If your verruca has been hanging around despite creams, acids or freezing, Swift® microwave therapy could be an option for you.

What is Swift®

Swift is a modern, clinic-based treatment which has been developed in the UK and is licensed for the general treatment of skin lesions in Podiatry and dermatology. It uses precisely controlled microwave energy through a small hand held probe to treat verrucae and encourage your body’s natural immune response.

The energy creates a brief, targeted thermal response within the treated tissue. This is thought to help expose the virus to your immune system, allowing your body’s natural defences to respond to the verruca. The treatment is carefully targeted, helping to minimise disruption to the surrounding healthy skin.

 Why choose Swift ?

✓ Quick treatment Individual applications take only a few seconds.

✓ No needles Swift does not require injections or local anaesthetic.

✓ No acids. There is no need for strong acid preparations to be applied to the skin.

✓ No freezing. Swift is an alternative to conventional cryotherapy.

✓ No bulky dressings

✓ Minimal disruption meaning most people can return to their normal activities after treatment.

What does Swift treatment feel like?

You may feel a brief, sharp or hot sensation during each application. The sensation is usually very short-lived and stops when the application finishes. Everyone experiences treatment differently, and your Podiatrist will talk you through what to expect before starting the treatment.

How many treatments will I need?

It is recommended to have 3 to 4 treatments which will be every 4 weeks and then a review appointment will be completed 12 weeks after the final application. Your Podiatrist will assess your verruca and discuss the appropriate treatment plan with you.

What happens after treatment?

You can generally return to your normal daily activities after your appointment. The treated area may feel tender or sore for a short period. Your Podiatrist will provide you with any specific aftercare advice you need. Swift is suitable for many people with verrucae, but it is not always suitable for everyone. Book in for your initial verruca appointment today and speak to one of our Podiatrists.
